Perched above a trendy salon on Wisconsin Avenue, this space had been a dark, non-code compliant, back of house storage area. Our goal: Convert it into an attractive, income-producing, boutique Georgetown office space.
Working closely with the development team, contractor, DCRA and Historic Preservation office, we developed a design solution that would transform an underutilized storage space into a vibrant office asset. We opened up the back of the building to flood the space with light, emphasizing the history of the structure through exposed steel beams, original brick, and interesting construction details. New high performing windows, additional insulation between levels and in the ceiling for acoustic performance created energy savings as well as a more comfortable office space.
Combining the building’s handsome historic details along with fresh, attractive lighting and finishes capture the combination of history and modernity that embodies the Georgetown aesthetic.
